A Little Progress

It looks as though the masons have completed the main work on the ramada. It's HUGE. I took a photo from the road and one from the yard. I also can't believe how beautifully the ramada arch frames the view of the mountains. I can't wait until we can sit out there and enjoy meals together.

Our old grill died a couple of weeks ago, but my Dad and Shane were able to fix it so that we can continue to barbeque until our new outdoor kitchen is ready. Shane also put together our new patio heaters and they're sitting in the garage waiting for the yard to be done.

The boys got new ride-on toys called Plasma cars for Christmas. They're meant to be played with outside in our new yard, but for now, they're driving us crazy by riding them loudly all over the house!

Failed inspection

It seems like they like to do everything twice (or even three times). Last week, an inspection was scheduled for the gas and electric lines. The first inspection came and went and the electric lines weren't even in the ground yet. They failed the 2nd inspection; it was last Wednesday, I think. The electrician just came and put the electrical lines right on top of the gas lines when they need to be separated by at least 6 inches. And, another issue was that the plans were not on site when the inspector was here.

I'm still very nervous about completion of this project. We have so much invested and the progress is so slow and risky. The masons are great; they're here almost every day working really hard, but everyone else is a liability, it seems.

So, if they don't finish by January 20th we don't have to pay the last 10%. Since they won't finish by Christmas now I'm sure, I think I'd like them to miss the deadline and finish at the end of January.

By they way, I can't believe that they used ALL of the bricks I showed in one of the previous photo postings. That was a lot of brick! They're going to have to order more.
